Es una banda francesa que tiene sus bases en el power metal, en donde la referencia más cercana al grupo es Symphony X, aunque Adagio se guía más por lo clásico, desde el Barroco hasta compositores contemporáneos. Hasta el momento el grupo ha grabado tres discos: Sanctus Ignis (2001), Underworld (2003) y Dominate (2006), y ahora están preparándose para grabar su próxima placa.
